WhatsApp set to add undo button on iPhone to ‘recover’ deleted messages – Times of India
As per WABetainfo, the platform that tracks the latest updates of the instant messaging platform, the undo option is set to roll out on WhatsApp’s beta version of iOS. Notably, the same feature was rolled out to the beta version of Android a few days back.
How will the feature work?
The report has a screenshot which shows how the feature will work. Whenever a user sends a message and wants to delete it, they see the option “delete for me”. Now if you delete a message then it’s deleted forever. However, users will now be able to tap on the “message deleted” option and see an undo button. There is no mention of what is the time limit to use the undo button but it won’t be forever. Once the message deleted option disappears then users will not be able to undo that action.
The feature is part of the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.18.0.70 version and is already rolling to beta users. The report, however, does mention that this feature has been released to certain beta testers. “If you don’t have this feature, please wait for the next few updates,” notes the report.
Since it’s already in beta version, we can expect the feature to roll out to all users as well. Having said that, quite a few features don’t make it past the beta stage but this is one feature that users can expect to get as it is quite a handy feature to have.
