WhatsApp starts testing message to self feature in beta
Soon after rolling out our rich text feature for status on iOS, WhatsApp started testing a new feature with a select number of beta users. The feature in question is the ability to ‘send message to yourself’, according to the WABetaInfo report. Now, WhatsApp users have been doing this without a dedicated feature. All they need to do is save their number and open it as an individual chat and send messages. However, doing this isn’t as simple as it sounds.
With the new feature, WhatsApp is making it easier for users to open their own phone number as an individual chat. The new feature will allow users to find their own phone number right within the contact list.
As per the report, once the feature will roll out, users will be able to see their own phone numbers and a simple tap can open the chat window directly.
Currently, the feature is being tested with some WhatsApp beta users on Android. The report suggests that the feature may arrive in iOS beta as soon as today.
Now, this isn’t entirely a new feature. The message of self feature has been in testing for a while now and this comes as an improvement over the previous testing version.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp has started rolling out a rich text preview feature for status updates on iOS and the feature is soon expected to arrive on the Android version of the app as well.
