According to the screenshots shared by WABetaInfo, the changes in the design are quite minimal but they provide a refreshed look to the page. The report further suggests that the new design is only rolling out to certain Android beta testers currently, but the platform will expand it to more users in the coming weeks. As the feature is only available in the beta version, it is not yet known when the design will make it to the public release.
The update also brings in another feature to improve the user interface for voice calls. The feature reportedly allows you to use a wallpaper for voice calls. Although there is no way to customise it at the moment, the Facebook owned platform will likely add functionality for the feature in the coming updates.
WhatsApp is also testing new design changes in-app camera. With the previous beta update, the company has redesigned the switch camera icon. The icon is smaller than the previous version and also misses out on the transparency effect. In addition to this, WhatsApp has also removed the horizontal bar that showed recent images in the phone’s gallery. The platform has also changed the gallery button at the bottom of the screen. With the updates, the button now shows the last image saved on your smartphone.
