WhatsApp to add ability to pause recording Voice Messages, fix Chat Backup issue as per latest report | Digit

The Facebook-owned WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new update that’ll allow users to pause voice message recordings and fix a chat backup issue as well. The news comes after a report from WABetaInfo which claims that WhatsApp will release these new features for Android and iOS users. These new features are currently under development and therefore will likely launch a bit late for beta testers.

The report also released a video showing how the new WhatsApp feature will work when released. While recording a voice message users will see a pause button allowing them to resume/pause the recording. The video shows an example of how the new features might work when released. Most likely, the new features will look and function a bit differently when officially released.

Fix WhatsApp Chat Backup

WABetaInfo also reported on a brand new feature that solves the problem of chat backup restoration stuck at 100%. A method originally found by the Reddit user (u/torojet), the new method allows the user to completely restore the WhatsApp chat backup.

  • Disconnect your WhatsApp account from your Google Drive
  • Uninstall WhatsApp and restore the latest database inside file manager to “mgstore.db” – don’t change the “.crypt” extension.
  • Reinstall Whatsapp and log in using the same mobile number
  • Now, the chat backup will restore using the local database
  • Link your WhatsApp and Google Drive account once again for future backup upload
