WhatsApp to improve Reactions feature for iOS: What to expect
How will the new Reactions feature work?
Currently, when WhatsApp users send multiple photos in a chat the messaging platform gathers them together and shows them as an album on the receiver’s end. The stable version of the app right now doesn’t allow users to react differently to every photo in an automatic album. However, users will be able to react to each photo in an album with this new update.
The report mentions that earlier users were unable to figure out ‘which photos or videos from an automatic album received a reaction without opening it.’ However, with this new update, WhatsApp beta users will find a media thumbnail within the reaction info. This media thumbnail will help users to identify which media has been reacted to and with what emoji in the automatic album.
How WhatsApp will improve the Reactions feature
WhatsApp is working on a new version of the Reactions feature where users will be able to react with any emoji available. Apart from the improved version of multi-device compatibility, this function is under development and is expected to be out in some time.
The report also suggests that WhatsApp’s improved Reactions feature is expected to look like the one available on Instagram Direct Messages. Users will have to tap on the “+” button after long-pressing a message and then they have chosen the emoji they want to use.
As per the report, this feature will be rolled out to more beta testers in the upcoming weeks and is expected to gradually arrive in the stable version of the app.
