WhatsApp will soon let users transfer chat history from Android phones to iPhone | 91mobiles.com
WhatsApp chat transfer from Android to iOS
Back in August 2021, WhatsApp brought the ability to transfer chat history from iPhone to certain Samsung smartphones. The feature was then enabled for some Google Pixel owners as well. And finally, the feature was added to all Android devices that came installed with Android 12. All this time, you could only move WhatsApp chats from iOS to Android, not the other way round. Now, it looks like WhatsApp is bringing the feature to transfer chats from Android to iPhone as well.
Thanks to some digging down by WABetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp for iOS beta 22.2.74 has hidden references that show the ability to import chats from an Android smartphone or device. The website also shared a screenshot that shows WhatsApp asking users’ permission to transfer chat history. Unfortunately, the feature isn’t enabled for beta users yet, and may take some time to become reality.
The feature should make it super simple to transfer chats from your Android phone to a new iPhone. This will come in handy if you’ve decided to make the switch from Android to iOS. It will require you to connect the two devices using a cable though, and download the Move to iOS app on your Android phone. A lot of users have been requesting WhatsApp to enable this feature, as it’s pretty much impossible to transfer chat history between Android and iPhone, unless you have those selected Samsung or Google Pixel phones.
