Who knew WhatsApp stickers were this popular?

Emoji dominated chat platforms for ages, giving users a quick way to express themselves without words. However, in October 2018, WhatsApp rolled out sticker support for the platform which gave users a quirky alternative to GIFs and emoji. More recently, a tip suggested that users may soon be able to create stickers from photos, giving the medium a more personal slant.

But how many of you use WhatsApp stickers as they are right now? It’s a question we posed in a recent poll, and the results are now in.

Do you use stickers on WhatsApp?

Results

Over 3,500 readers cast their vote in this poll which went live on November 24. The results highlight just how popular WhatsApp stickers really are on the platform and why WhatsApp is considering building upon the feature.

More than four in every five respondents use stickers on WhatsApp. Numerically, that amounts to 85.2% of respondents. That’s a huge proportion of users. Notably, Telegram has allowed users to create stickers since 2015, so WhatsApp is decidedly late to the party. However, clearly, the hunger for WhatsApp users to create and use custom stickers is there. It’s unclear when the feature will arrive on the app, though.

Alternatively, just 14.8% don’t use stickers while chatting to their contacts on a daily basis. Understandably, some likely prefer using GIFs, emoji, or text to convey their feelings on the app instead.

That’s it for this poll. Thanks for your votes and comments. If you have any additional thoughts about WhatsApp stickers or the results of the poll, be sure to drop them below.
