Why Elon Musk is planning to hire Twitter engineers from India

The chaos that was cast over the micro-blogging site Twitter after it was acquired by Tesla CEO Elon Musk is expected to end soon. From former CEO Parag Agrawal to contractual workers of the company, Musk has conducted a series of layoffs since his takeover. After laying off more than 50% of the company’s workforce and implementing rigorous ‘productivity’ policies, Elon Musk has now reportedly decided to stop Twitter job cuts. Moreover, the billionaire is also planning to hire new staff for the engineering and sales departments of the company. According to a report by The Verge, the company’s new CEO has also announced his plans to decentralise Twitter by setting up engineering teams in countries outside the US which includes — Japan, Brazil, Indonesia and India.
Why Elon Musk is planning to decentralise Twitter
Twitter’s new owner recently held a hands-on meeting with his employees at the company’s San Francisco office. In this meeting, Musk reportedly noted that Twitter’s “technology stack” has to be “built from scratch,” and suggested that the company can benefit by decentralising things.
The report didn’t specify the kind of engineers or sales executives that Musk was planning to hire. Musk is reportedly planning to set up engineering teams in countries outside the US, including India.

Moreover, Musk also emphasised the importance of hiring software engineers who are well-versed in writing codes. He even said that hiring these engineers is the “highest priority.”
Before this meeting, the company reportedly made an undisclosed number of job cuts in the sales department. The report also mentions that Twitter has already laid off most of the senior leadership in the sales department.
New compensation for remaining Twitter employees
Elon Musk has also reportedly discussed the compensation benefits that will be offered to the remaining Twitter employees at this meeting. The company’s new boss reportedly wants to pay his employees in stock options.

Moreover, Twitter employees will also get opportunities to liquidate those stocks at regular intervals. SpaceX, which is also led by Elon Musk, is another company that operates in the same way.
At the meeting, Musk also admired the social media platform’s presence in Japan. He claimed that Japan nearly has the same number of daily active users as the US even after having a much lower population count.
