According to the video, these are the five realistic details about cats in Stray:
- Cats are naturally curious and playful animals.
- They usually sleep between 12 to 18 hours a day but those living outside do not have that luxury as they must stay alert to danger.
- Cats who are homeless or are allowed to roam outdoors may get injured or lost.
- Scratching is a normal, instinctive feline behaviour and should not be punished.
- Cats who are left outdoors are more likely to get infected by life-threatening parasites.
“For a game about a homeless cat roaming a robot-filled cyber-punk world, Stray gets top marks from PETA for its accuracy”, says PETA in the description of the video.
The organisation has earlier slammed several video games like Far Cry 6 and Mario for portraying animals in ways that may promote cruelty towards them. For instance, Far Cry 6’s cockfights and Mario’s Tanooki suit came under criticism from the organisation.
Stray launched recently on PS5, PS4 and Windows PC. The adventure indie game is developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive. The game features the story of a cat lost in a cyberpunk world full of robots who must return to their family. On the journey, it will face several challenges and dangers.
