WhatsApp recently rolled out the multi-device feature to more users. The feature is available for both Android and iOS users. It allows users to use WhatsApp on up to four companion devices at one time without having to keep your phone connected. It is currently in beta testing and will have a complete roll out in a future update. The feature is getting enabled by default in many devices when users update the app to the latest version. Otherwise too, users have the option to join the multi-device beta.
Once you join the beta, the WhatsApp web version on your laptop or the other device where you access the instant messaging app will be Beta version and so there may be glitches. Some iPhone and Android users have complained that after joining the beta, they are unable to send or receive messages from the companion device, they are not able to see old chats and more.

For iPhone users:

- Open WhatsApp on your iPhone and go to settings
- Tap on ‘Linked devices’.
- Here, you can see if you have joined the multi-device beta. Tap on it
- Now, tap on ‘Leave beta’ to pull out of the beta testing
For Android users:
- Open WhatsApp and tap on More options (three vertical dots on the top-right corner).
- Here, tap on Linked Devices.
- Now, tap on Multi-device beta.
- Tap Leave Beta.
