Windows 11 22H2 update: Microsoft accidentally teased this incremental Windows 11 22H2 update | – Times of India
What is ‘Moment’ update
Earlier this year, Microsoft hinted that Windows 11 will get small, quarterly feature updates called “Moments” which will be similar to the company’s “feature experience packs.” Released earlier this month, “Moments 1” is the first of the periodic updates that Microsoft will launch every three months.
You can draw a parallel between the way Windows 11 will get the quarterly update and how Google releases its quarterly Feature Drop update for Pixel smartphones.
Microsoft’s “Moment 2” update accidently teased
After releasing the “Moment 1” update, it was an implicit assumption that the company is working on the “Moments 2” update. As per the latest development, Microsoft has accidentally confirmed and teased the second ‘Moment’ update called ‘Moment 2’. This update will add new features to Windows 11 version 22H2 and is expected to reach customers as early as 2023.
What’s new in “Moment 2” update
The video shared by Microsoft’s Windows Insider Program shows a Windows 11 preview build “23003.ni_moment_directdash_dev1.221018-160”, which is said to be an internal build of Windows 11 version 22H2 “Moment 2”. As per a report by Windows Latest, the company will ship a cumulative update that will bump the build number to 22623 from 22622 or 22621.
The “Moment 2” update is expected to bring various new features and one of them could be the “Tablet-Optimized taskbar” apparently demoed in the YouTube video mentioned above. If you are a Windows Insider member, you can try some of the upcoming features out on your PC. Windows Insider Program is Microsoft’s public testing platform that allows you to try out features the company is working on.
The previous ‘Moment’ update for Windows 11 brought Amazon Appstore, Tabbed File Explorer and some Taskbar enhancements.
