Microsoft has released a preview update of Windows 11 that fixes issues with gaming performance woes on Windows PCs. Earlier this month, the company informed users about the issue with the gaming performance, where users were experiencing lower-than-expected performance while gaming. The issue appeared for some users who upgraded to the latest Windows 11 update, the awaited 2H22 build.
Windows 11 2H22 update brought woes for gamers
“Some games and apps might experience lower than expected performance or stuttering on Windows 11, version 22H2.” said Microsoft on the Windows release health page. Further adding that “Affected games and apps are inadvertently enabling GPU performance debugging features not meant to be used by consumers.” Though, Microsoft did not name the games specifically affected by the said bug.
Windows 11 preview update now available to users
Soon after addressing the issue, Microsoft blocked the Windows 11 2H22 update for the systems with these affected games. The company further recommended people not to upgrade, though the safeguard was removed about a week ago.
Now the issue has been fixed as per Microsoft. So, if you are running the 2H22 build of Windows 11, you can check for the KB502004 update preview through Windows Update and install it as soon as possible.
Recently, Windows PC users have faced issues with Nvidia drivers on systems running Windows 11 2H22. Nvidia fixed the issue in September with the Game Ready 517.48 driver update. Users were facing stuttering and frame rate with a few games.
The latest cumulative update of Windows 11, marked KB502004, brings fixes to other bugs also. Further, the update adds storage alerts for OneDrive with the full amount of the storage capacity of all your OneDrive subscriptions and integrates the Windows Searchlight within the Themes on the Personalization page.
There is one thing to note there will not be any non-security cumulative update in December because of the holiday season across the countries in the west. The non-security preview releases resume next year in January. However, Microsoft will release a monthly security release next month.
