World War Z’s new expansion ‘Aftermath’ gets a launch date – Times of India

Saber Interactive and Koch Media’s zombie co-op shooter World War Z is getting the ‘Aftermath’ expansion which will launch on the PS4 on September 21, 2021. The game will launch for the PS5 next year and if you are upgrading, then it will be free for you. Apart from PS4 and PS5, the game would also launch on PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) and Xbox Series X|S.
The expansion adds new maps, new characters, a melee system, new types of zombies and a new Horde mode. The events of World War Z Aftermath will happen in the Vatican City, Rome and in the snowbound Kamchatka peninsula, Russia, where story-based missions will be set. The game retains the old characters even after adding new ones whom you can choose and play.
The expansion adds a new Horde Mode XL game mode which will arrive as a free post-launch update. The mode is exclusive to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. The speciality of this mode is the increase in the number count of zombies which is already quite big. It seems like, with this mode, the developers want to fill the screen with zombies as it promises to feature “hundreds more zombies on screen than ever before possible.”
Here is the gameplay trailer of World War Z: Aftermath.

First-person mode, new melee system
Aftermath adds the First-Person Mode option, making the game more realistic. Completing daily missions with special modifiers in your weapons would get you bonus rewards.
In the story mode, “you take the fight to the undead with a brutal new melee system, decimating zekes with unique moves, perks and dual-wield weapon options like the sickle and cleaver. Fend off new undead monstrosities, including swarms of flesh-hungry rats that will unleash total chaos on your team.”, say the developers.
