Wow, the OnePlus Nord N20 looks a lot like an iPhone

TL;DR

  • We now have leaked renders of what appears to be the OnePlus Nord N20.
  • The phone borrows plenty of design cues from the iPhone 12 and 13 series.
  • It’s likely this phone would launch before the end of the year.

OnePlus skipped on delivering a OnePlus 9T this year, but that doesn’t mean the company is done launching 2021 smartphones. Today, a reliable leaker pushed out some images of what appears to be a new budget device from the Chinese OEM.

Steve Hemmerstoffer (via 91Mobiles) has some renders of what appears to be the OnePlus Nord N20. This would be a follow-up to the OnePlus Nord N10, which launched at the tail end of 2020. The Nord N series is where OnePlus pushes its budget offerings, and the N10 was the top of that particular heap.

You can see the renders for yourself below. Be warned, though, that people who hate when OEMs copy Apple’s designs for the iPhone will likely be pretty upset.

OnePlus Nord N20 leaked renders

Right away, you’ll notice this could be the first OnePlus phone with flat edges, a trend we first saw reemerge on the iPhone 12 series. The renders make it appear that even the glossy look of the iPhone 12 edges transfer over to this OnePlus Nord N20.

On the back, the camera lenses and formatting also look very similar to the iPhone 12 series, albeit without the square casing and with a small additional sensor.

The front, of course, doesn’t look anything like an iPhone. There’s no notch with the usual left-aligned display cutout appearing instead. The display is rumored to be a 6.43-inch AMOLED panel with in-display fingerprint support.

There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack here, which you certainly don’t find on any iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 models.

Under the hood, Hemmerstoffer contends it will use the Snapdragon 695 chipset, which supports 5G connections. The only other specs Hemmerstoffer is willing to reveal are the cameras, which he says are a 48MP primary, and a pair of other 2MP sensors.

This phone would likely launch before the end of 2021 and most likely land in the United States, among other countries. Stay tuned.
