NEW DELHI: Xiaomi is all set to launch its new Mi Mix series smartphone this month. The company has confirmed that it will launch the Mi Mix 4 smartphone in China on August 10. The smartphone is the successor of the last year launched Mi Mix 3 smartphone, which the company launched in 2019.
The company also shared a teaser image of the upcoming smartphone on Weibo. The teaser image confirms that the smartphone will come with an uninterrupted display. This means that it is possible that Xiaomi may include an under-display camera in the smartphone. Another teaser image of the smartphone hints towards ultra wideband (UWB).
The poster shared comes with a title ‘new technology, new understanding’ and it shows the Mi Mix 4 pointed towards a TV. For those unaware, UWB is an advanced form of Bluetooth which offers centimeter-level precision in finding smart devices.
As per various online rumours, the Mi Mix 4 is said to come with a curved screen. The smartphone is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship 888 processor. Mi Mix 4 is said to house a 4500mAh battery with 120W wired fast charging support. The smartphone is expected to pack 8GB/12GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi has emerged as the second biggest smartphone brand in the world. According to market research firm Canalys, Xiaomi captured second position in the world in terms of shipments during Q2, 2021. The smartphone maker leapfrogged Apple for the first time to record this feat. Ben Stanton, research manager, Canalys says that Xiaomi’s shipments “increased more than 300% in Latin America, 150% Africa and 50% in Western Europe.”
