Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold successor tipped to come with Snapdragon 888 SoC, 108MP camera, and more | 91mobiles.com

The Mi MIX Fold finally made its debut earlier this year amid much fanfare. Now, there is a second Xiaomi foldable phone in the works, if a new report from Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station (via MySmartPrice) is to be believed. It states that it will employ a front-folding screen. The next part is unclear due to the machine translation going awry, but it will likely have a regular screen configuration found in some other foldable phones. We’re probably looking at a better hinge design and a few other minor QoL improvements here and there.

Xiaomi’s mysterious new tablet, will, in all likelihood, not stray too far from the Mi Mix Fold. We can even say with some certainty that it will be a Mi Mix fold with a few incremental upgrades thrown in the mix. This is proven by the fact that the mystery Xiaomi tablet will sport a 108MP camera module and draw power from a Snapdragon 888 SoC- both of which were found on the Mi Mix Fold, alongside a 5,000mAh battery.

We’re not quite sure what Xiaomi’s end goal is with this new foldable. The Mi Mix is still only available in a grand total of two countries (China and Vietnam). While it is priced on the higher end of the spectrum, Xiaomi fans would undoubtedly love to take a crack at its first-ever foldable. One can only hope that this new device is launched globally, but given the global chip shortage, the prospects of that happening seem unlikely.
