xiaomi: Xiaomi 12S with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC appears on Geekbench
Xiaomi’s next flagship smartphone – the Xiaomi 12S – has been doing the rounds of the internet for some time now. The smartphone appeared in live pictures sporting the Leica branding. Later, it surfaced on the 3C certification portal. It was speculated that the smartphone would be powered by the recently announced Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. And now a Xiaomi smartphone with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, allegedly Xiaomi 12S, has appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking platform.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 to power Xiaomi 12S
The yet-to-be-announced Xiaomi smartphone having the model number “2206123SC” appeared on the Geekbench. The smartphone is said to be the Xiaomi 12S which is expected to launch next month alongside the Xiaomi 12S Pro and Xiaomi 12 Ultra. As per the Geekbench listing, the smartphone is powered by an octa-core chipset having one prime core clocked at 3.19GHz, three running at 2.75GHz and four efficiency cores clocked at 2.02GHz, which is none other than the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor.
The listing further suggests that the Xiaomi 12S would have 12GB of RAM and would also run Android 12, preferably with MIUI 13 skin on top of it. The smartphone managed to score a single-core score and a multi-core score of 1,328 and 4,234, respectively.
The Xiaomi 12S is rumoured to feature a 120Hz OLED display. Rumours suggest that it would come with a 50MP triple camera setup co-engineered with Leica. The Xiaomi 12S series is expected to launch in China in the coming weeks.
