You may soon be able to send images as WhatsApp Stickers, here’s how – Times of India

Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to convert photos to stickers. As reported by WaBetaInfo, the feature will enable users to quickly create a sticker from an image, without using any third-party app. WaBetaInfo is the online platform that keeps track of new and upcoming features of WhatsApp.
How will the new feature work?
As per the report, WhatsApp will add a new sticker icon next to the caption bar. When a user selects it, the image will be sent as a sticker. WaBetaInfo has also shared a screenshot of how the feature will look like. It says that after sending the sticker, users will also be able to verify that the image is sent as a sticker.

Can a WhatsApp user turn photos into stickers currently?
As of now, WhatsApp does allow its users to create personalised stickers. But the support is only available for Android users. But this is a comparatively long process as one has to clear the background of the image first using a third-party app. Also, WhatsApp currently supports PNG files as Stickers.
According to the report, WhatsApp will introduce an in-app tool that will offer a fast and easy method to convert images to stickers.
When will the new feature come?
The feature is currently under development. It is said to be available in a future beta update. “At the moment WhatsApp is not working on the same feature on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS” the report says.
