Samsung has announced that it will stop showing ads on some of its default apps that come pre-loaded with every Samsung phone. By the end of this year, you can expect to see no ads while using Samsung Weather, Samsung Pay, and Samsung Theme. Samsung will push a software update to enforce this. As per a statement to The Verge, Samsung said, “Our priority is to deliver innovative mobile experiences for our consumers based on their needs and wants. “We value feedback from our users and continue our commitment to provide them with the best possible experience from our Galaxy products and services.”
Be it budget phones or high-end Samsung phones, people used to always complain about the ads baked into the UI and Samsung apps. Despite paying a higher price for flagship devices, it is quite annoying to see ads every time any Samsung app is accessed.
While you can still expect to see ads on your Samsung phone but at least you will find no ads while using these three apps made by Samsung on your Galaxy phone.
As per a report by Yonhap, Samsung will, however, provide “information” through search and recommendations. This means you will continue to see ads on the Galaxy Store. “We will do our best to provide useful information that customers need through search and recommendation in the content service or Galaxy Store,” said Roh Tae-moon, the chief of Samsung mobile division.
