Your iPhone may send message read receipts even when turned off

With the launch of iPhone 13 series, Apple also started to roll out the iOS 15 operating system. Unveiled at WWDC last year, the iOS 15 brought some notable features like redesigned Safari browser, SharePlay, Focus Mode, Live Text and many others. The update also brings in new security and privacy features. Since the beginning of the roll out, users have reported several issues with the OS and now a new bug has joined the wagon. According to a report by MacRumors, a bug in the Messages app sends read receipts even when the feature is disabled by the user.

For those who don’t know, read receipts are just like the blue ticks that one can see while using WhatsApp. The ‘Delivered’ text under an iMessage turns to ‘Read’ when you have the message sent by another user. It is worth noting that the Read notifications only appear when the feature is turned on in the Settings app. Once enabled, the setting syncs across all the Apple devices that use the same Apple ID.

The report by MacRumors suggests that the Messages app does not always observe the settings set by the users. A few people were able to resolve the issue temporarily by restarting their device but no permanent solution has been discovered till now. The new OS has also removed a feature from Apple voice assistant Siri. According to a report, Siri can no longer rate songs played on the Apple Music app in iOS 15 or later.

With iOS 8, Apple added the ability to rate songs in the Apple Music app. With the feature, users were able to rate a song out of five through the voice assistant while they are listening through earbuds or when the phone is connected to CarPlay. Although it may not look like a big feature, it was quite helpful for people who were able to create smart playlists on the app based on their ratings.
