Your PS5 could be about to get a great sounding upgrade from Apple

The PS5 could soon boast an Apple Music app. As reported by Eurogamer, a PS5 version of the music streaming app has recently been spotted – with a few people already able to download the app. At the moment, an app for rival streaming service Spotify is available to download for the PS4, PS5 and PS3 – but Apple Music subscribers miss out.

According to Redditors, when they tried to download the Apple Music app onto their PS5 they received an error message which said: “This app is only playable on PS4”.

This type of error message usually appears on the PS5 when there’s a missing PlayStation Store app, with many PS5 apps merely PS4 apps that are running via backwards compatibility. While Sony and Apple haven’t officially confirmed the PS5 Apple Music app, it’s thought an announcement could happen soon. Next week, the Cupertino tech giant are holding their second big event in a matter of weeks.

The previous Apple event, which was held in September, revealed the iPhone 13 line-up as well as the Apple Watch Series 7.

It’s thought the next Apple event, which is taking place on Monday October 18, could reveal a new range of MacBook Pro devices.

The event, which starts at 6pm UK time, could also announce the Apple Music app release for PlayStation consoles.

Judging by the way Spotify works on the PS5, the upcoming Apple Music app will likely work in a similar way. That means Apple Music subscribers will be able to play any song from the service’s 70million strong library while playing a game.

Apple Music boasts a huge library of songs and artists, and even includes popular video game music soundtracks. Final Fantasy and Persona soundtracks are among those available with Apple Music.

So if you’re playing a game from a different genre, but fancy listening to Persona 5’s funky beats or some of the heart wrenching music from Final Fantasy 7, then you can tune into that instead.

The upcoming Apple event could also reveal a new Mac mini, showcase more on macOS 12 Monterey and maybe even unveil some new AirPods.
