YouTube is getting a new colour for video progress bar – Times of India

YouTube recently redesigned the apps and web interface of the platform which includes the new interface, precise seeking, ambient mode and more. Now, the company is reportedly testing a new more subtle progress bar, reports 9to5Google.
According to the report, the new video progress bar won’t be Red all the time. If you can’t remember, open your YouTube app and start playing a video, you’ll need that the seeker and the progress bar is Red in colour. In the latest beta testing, the company is making this a White/Grey in colour that looks more subtle compared to the Red progress bar.
As per the report, the new White/Grey progress bar appears when passively watching a video with dark theme enabled. Also, with the new colour for the video progress bar, it does not indicate how much video has also been loaded.
The report also notes that the previous features are still there and tapping or interacting with the progress bar brings up the controls and also changes its behaviour back to normal.
It is important to highlight that the new video progress bar isn’t widely rolled out yet. It is still appearing on some devices randomly. So, in case you can’t see this happening for you, you’ll have to wait as it’s a system-side change and may appear eventually.
Meanwhile, YouTube has also started testing a new Add to queue feature. It let users create a temporary playlist of videos or songs they want to watch. In order to access the feature, users can tap the three-dot overflow menu on each video. It will offer an option to ‘Play last in queue’. When users tap on the option, YouTube will create a queue at the bottom of the screen.
Do note that this is an experimental feature and is available only for YouTube Premium members.
