- The feature will make it possible to access your streaming services without having to leave the platform.
These days it seems like every company has its own streaming service, forcing content to be divided up into various apps. Having to jump from app to app when you want to watch your favorite shows can be a bit of a pain. YouTube appears to want to streamline things a bit with its new Primetime Channels feature.
Today, on the official YouTube Blog, the company announced a new feature coming to YouTube called Primetime Channels. This feature will bring a number of popular streaming services to the platform. Some of these services include Showtime, Starz, Paramount Plus, AMC Plus, and more. Altogether, the planned lineup consists of 34 different channels with more to come down the line, including NBA League Pass.
With this new feature, viewers will be able to log in to their accounts and access their streaming services directly on YouTube. This would eliminate the need to leave one app and open up a new app.
The company states, “Once you sign up, content from your Primetime Channels will be reflected into the YouTube experience you know and love.” This means that when users begin using Primetime Channels, YouTube will start providing recommendations that include programs from Primetime Channels. In addition, YouTube says the Primetime Channel homepage will include “shows and movies with curated trailers, behind-the-scenes footage and cast interviews.”
The new feature is said to be rolling out sometime today and can be found in the Movies & Shows hub. However, to start using it, you’ll have to sign up first. At the moment, the early version of Primetime Channels is only available to people in the US.
