YouTube is testing a stricter moderation system to prevent comment spam – Times of India

YouTube has been a platform for consuming video content for over a decade now. As the video library and content creators have grown on the platform, the number of spammers have also increased.
Citing the spam issue, several content creators started complaining about it via a video explaining how spammers spam other legit viewers by impersonating themselves as the content creator of the channel in the comment section.
To add to the context, YouTube already has an advanced AI and machine learning based spam filter system in place which automatically maintains the sanity of the comment section. In addition to that, there’s also a way to report such comments as well.
However, this certainly does not seem to be working and as per The Verge’s report, YouTube has reportedly started testing a new comment filtration feature.
A popular YouTuber recently posted this new ‘Increase strictness’ option under the content moderation tool via a tweet from his official handle. The image in the tweet clearly shows it as an experimental feature and apparently, the feature has been in development since a while now
The Verge has reported that YouTube started testing Increase strictness from December 2021.
This certainly is an important feature for content creators on YouTube. However, currently, there’s information when Google will officially bring this feature to the platform for regular users.
