Zoom adds a Focus Mode that is ideal for online education and special presentations | Digit
Zoom meetings have sort of taken over our lives as the world continues to reel under the weight of the ongoing pandemic. It’s been a year and a half now and it seems that the video conferencing company has added a new feature to the app. Called Focus Mode, the feature will allow presenters to hide the screens of other participants in the call and only focus on you. Other people on the Zoom call will also have their screens reflect only the presenter. The presenter will still be able to monitor everyone on the call. This feature could come in handy in situations like online classrooms and special presentations.

Participants on the call will still be able to see their peer’s reactions and emojis but will not be able to head or see them. This was done to limit the focus of the user to just the presenter. When unmuted, participants will then be able to hear other participants. Again, this could be very helpful when it comes to online education. The ease of operating the app is also another factor as to why Zoom has become so popular in the past year. With other apps like Google Meet and more in the market, it seems that Zoom is leading the pack.
As of now, the feature is only available on the desktop, i.e Windows PCs and Macs and requires version 5.7.3. The feature can be accessed by clicking on the More button present on the meeting toolbar. We’re eager to see what kind of other improvements this particular feature brings.
