Realme X7 Max 5G: 4 reasons to buy and 2 reasons not to buy this sub-Rs 30,000 phone | 91mobiles.com

The Realme X7 Max was launched in India a few days ago. The device is quite unique compared to other smartphones in the Indian market. While most other flagship-grade phones in the country come with a Qualcomm SoC, the Realme X7 Max has a MediaTek chipset. This brings down the price of the device significantly. As a result, the Realme X7 Max starts at Rs 26,999 and is one of the most affordable flagship-grade smartphones in India. We’ve reviewed the device and here are the four reasons you should buy the Realme X7 Max and two reasons you shouldn’t.

Realme X7 Max: 4 reasons why you should buy

Superlative performance

The Realme X7 Max is the first smartphone in the country with the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC. It comes paired with up to 12GB of RAM. According to our in-house reviewer, Kshitij Pujari, the Realme X7 Max is “nothing short of spectacular in terms of the fluidity offered in the UI. In basic terms, every single activity you can conceive of doing on a smartphone will be performed with maximum efficiency. App switching, continuous multitasking, editing videos, running several Chrome tabs at once, and heavy GPU-intensive gaming don’t stress the phone for a second.”

While people are usually skeptical about the performance of MediaTek chipsets, that doesn’t seem to be the case with the Dimesity 1200. So, if you are looking for a smartphone that can offer flagship-grade performance on a budget, the Realme X7 Max should be at the top of your list.

Capable cameras

The Realme X7 Max has a triple-camera setup at the rear with a 64MP primary sensor, 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro camera. While the phone doesn’t offer a class-leading image quality, it is quite decent for the price. Kshitij says “As a daylight shooter, the Realme X7 Max takes slightly oversaturated shots that are full of detail and have excellent dynamic range.”

The low-light photography is equally good. According to Kshitij “Low-light photography is also a strong suit for the Realme X7 Max and I was particularly impressed with how natural the shots looked when the dedicated Night Mode was used.” For selfies, you get a 16MP snapper that takes “accurate pictures while slightly masking facial features.” All in all, you’ll be pretty happy with the cameras on the Realme X7 Max.

Good software experience

The Realme X7 Max ships with the Android 11 OS and it has the Realme UI 2.0 on top. The custom skin from the brand is one of the best in the industry. It offers a ton of features, a fairly modern-looking design, and plenty of customizability options. Plus, the OS is well-optimized which further enhances the user experience. The brand also keeps updating the firmware with new features, bug fixes, and performance improvements. So, you’ll be pretty satisfied with the software experience on the Realme X7 Max.

Light and trendy design

Flagship-grade smartphones usually pack a powerful processor, a beefy cooling system, multiple large-sized camera sensors, a metal frame, and a bunch of other stuff that you don’t see in entry-level and mid-range smartphones. Due to all these components, flagship-grade smartphones are usually heavy, which makes them uncomfortable to hold in hand for a long period of time.

Fortunately, that is not the case with the Realme X7 Max. The phone weighs just 179 grams, which offers a “supremely light in-hand feel”. Moreover, the phone has an understated and classy design, which many people would like. In the review, Kshitij says “there is little doubt in my mind that the X7 Max will appeal to most users with its thin, light, and well-rounded design elements.”

Bloatware

While the Realme UI 2.0 packs a ton of features, a modern-looking UI design, and plenty of customizability options, it does have one issue and that is bloatware. According to our review, “if the company can resolve its bloatware problem, I would easily recommend Realme UI as a great alternative to the standard clean stock Android solution.” That being said, you can uninstall most of the bloatware from the smartphone. As for the elements that you can’t remove, they will not hinder the performance of the device.

Lacks expandable storage

As each day passes by, we store more and more data on our smartphones. So, it is always good to have a phone with expandable storage. It allows you to store data on a microSD card so that you don’t have to transfer files to your PC or external storage devices when you run out of space on your mobile. Unfortunately, the Realme X7 Max doesn’t come with a microSD card slot. That being said, the phone is available with up to 256GB of storage and that should suffice most people.
