These four new features are coming soon to your iPhone

Last month, Apple rolled out its annual big software update — iOS 16 — for iPhones. Now, Apple is gearing up to bring more features to iPhones with iOS 16.1. It is expected that iOS 16.1 will be rolled out later this month — on October 24 in all likelihood — and is set to bring a host of new features. Here are four key features that will soon arrive on iPhones:

iCloud Shared Photo Library

At WWDC 2022 in June, Apple showcased the iCloud Shared Library feature and it is now expected to arrive with iOS 16.1. With this feature, users can create a separate library for seamlessly sharing photos and videos with up to five other people. Further, Library filters will allow for quickly switching between viewing the Shared Library, your Personal Library, or both libraries together. Users can choose shared edits and permissions let everyone add, edit, favourite, caption, and delete photos. Also, there will be a sharing toggle in Camera will let users choose to send photos they take straight to the Shared Library.

More utility added to the Dynamic Island

Apple will bring a new feature called Live Activities with iOS 16.1. Users — who have iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max — can use the Dynamic Island for third-party apps. It will be interesting to see how developers implement the feature.

Clean Energy Charging

The iPhone will get a new setting that can try to reduce your carbon footprint by selectively charging when lower carbon emission electricity is available.

Matter comes to Home app

Matter, the new smart home connectivity standard, is supported enabling a wide variety of smart home accessories to work together across ecosystems with iOS 16.1.
